Purple Thistle

f/5.6, 1/500, ISO2000

I have some VERY exciting news to share today. The other day I ordered a new lens for my camera and it came in yesterday. I got the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG APO Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens. I wanted something that would give me a bit more range so I could take better photos of things that aren’t so close. I’ve been busy testing it out, finding it’s limits, and discovering its features. Today I went out and really started testing it out. Above is one of the photos that I took this morning using the new lens. Apparently this is a thistle, I had to ask my mother what it was because, if you haven’t learned this by now, I’m not very good at identifying flowers. Though, I guess the thistle is technically a weed. Weed or flower, I thought it was pretty, so a took a picture.

What do you think?

What is your favorite lens to use when you’re out shooting photos?
