Visiting Philadlephia 2013: Eastern State Penitentiary Clock Tower

Photo Originally Taken on March 15, 2013.

I have to say that this photo from the Eastern State Penitentiary is one of my favorite pictures. This photo was taken of the Eastern State Penitentiary Clock Tower and I’m honestly not sure what created the ominous shadow that seems to surround it. It gives that extra spooky feel to it though, doesn’t it? I can’t help but wonder if prisoners witnessed this phenomenon and what they thought of it. What are you thoughts on this photo, what does it make you think and feel?

AnonymousOoh, it is creepy!! And I bet being a prisoner there was made even freakier by the thought of being watched from the clock tower.ReplyCancel

AnonymousIt was really creepy and I didn’t realize how I had captured it until a little while later. I wish I knew what had caused it to look like that…then again, maybe I don’t want to know!ReplyCancel

AnonymousFound you on the Sits Girls and you’re post immediately caught my attention! I absolutely love going to spooky places and exploring them.

My friend sent me a picture of this place and we saw a bit of a shadow figure in one of the windows…definitely eerie and wouldn’t surprise me if wierd stuff happened there with the history behind it. Thanks for sharing!ReplyCancel

AnonymousOooooo, this reminded me that we went there…. That place gave me the TOTAL creeps, it did not help that my husband and children ran off and left me by myself and then proceeded to jump out or tried to scared the living crap out of me at certain points during the visit. Great photo, thanks for the memory of that vacation.

AnonymousOh no! I can’t believe they ran off without you and then tried to scare you! That’s so cruel–especially in a creepy place like that. I hope you were able to enjoy your vacation non-the-less and hope you are able to return and make even more new memories (hopefully they won’t leave you again!).ReplyCancel

AnonymousMy brother has taken pictures there and images have shown up that weren’t there when he took the picture. I believe the prison is supposed to be haunted. It’s probably the souls of those that are there for life and died there. Bravo for you for going there, I’ll just watch your pictures LOL. Stopping in from SITSsharefest.ReplyCancel
